Ozuku kiita kamisori toishi. This is a light colored kiita that has a very even and homogenous grain structure
that contains a fine pinpoint pattern of nashiji or pear skin design. It is a fast cutting stone that comes alive with
advanced cutting qualities if a light slurry is set, or can be used to polish a blade if just clear water is used.
This stone has grit fine and similar in size the hard asagi stones, but this is a faster cutting stone. It is an
actual razor hone and will elevate a razors edge to provide a very close comfortable shave with minimum time
and effort. I have shave tested this stone and easily achieved HHT in the 4 category
Being 45mm wide and 196mm long it provides a traditional platform for hand or bench honing using long fluid
X strokes. As you can see in the bottom photo the color intensifies when wet.
This stone and the other kamisori toishi on my site are from a world class private collection of over 400 pieces
assembled in Japan over the past years in the area around Toyama by a collector of shaving implements. I
was lucky enough to purchase total collection over the last 2 years. Many of the hones were actually used by
barbers, some dating to the 1920s or earlier, while others were simply prepared by the miners as razor hones
as evidenced by the size and fine quality of the stones grit composition.
