Nakayama tomae #158
Old mined Nakayama tomae. This stone was mined in the early 20th or late 19th century,
the brown almost chocolate color is very rare and these deposits were depleted early on.
The skin on the side of the stone has the distinct sparkle to the black and the burnt
umbers overtake the lighter shades. Although not an expensive stone because of its size
it could be very handy for touching up razors if you use an X stroke. Included is the old
original handmade wooden base called a dai from which the stone was removed and
still has portions of the stone attached. The dai is still usable.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back guarantee
minus the shipping.
