Okudo asagi with a very faint and even toned green color. This is a really nice finishing stone, fast and only
medium hard it will quickly hone up a razor with just the minimal of effort and time with TheAxMethod.
There is and should be noted a small 1cm x 2.5cm spot open grit area on the top surface of this stone that is
rough and could produce errant chips of grit.
This spot in my photos is towards upper end of the stone. Taking this into consideration there still is a 150 x
65mm clear area to hone on. I am not sure over time with the stone being lapped occasionally how this portion
will develop, go away or get worse. It is because of the flaw that I am putting a very modest value on this stone
while at the same time my money back guarantee still stands in place as it is for all of my stones.
All of my stones come fully lapped with beveled edges unless otherwise noted.
This stone and the other kamisori toishi on my site are from a world class private collection of over 400 pieces
assembled in Japan over the past years in the area around Toyama by a collector of shaving implements. I
was lucky enough to purchase total collection over the last 2 years. Many of the hones were actually used by
barbers, some dating to the 1920s or earlier, while others were simply prepared by the miners as razor hones
as evidenced by the size and fine quality of the stones grit composition.
