Okudo tomae #610
This is a level 5++ stone that has an asagi coloration on the top but
the majority of the body of the stone is gray as you can see in the
view of the sanded side in the photos. The green asagi top feels
just as hard as the middle gray portion, and as the green fades the
gray layer will act and cut steel in exactly the same way.
A deep strata stone that is very dense and heavy it does make a
very good kamisori toishi razor hone. With a slurry made by a
diamond plate, tomo nagura or an alternate like Mikawa nagura
many fellows prefer these harder stones, and I have honed two
razors off this stone and the grit is superb.
The back of the stone has been lapped so it sits flat on a table, but
it still shows a rich kawa pattern, The topside of the toishi-stone
has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges beveled
unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back
guarantee minus the return shipping.
