Okudo tomae #602
A perfect example of an Okudo stone as a razor hone. The Okudo
mine was next door to the Nakayama mine, just up the valley and
here for shares some of the same characteristics. The colors of
he kawa skin, the mottling or foggy pattern of the binders, high
grit percentages and a wide variety of good stone from all of the
layers in the mine structure from hard to soft, suita and tomea.
This stone is an excellent all around razor stone that will hone up
all kinds of steel including Japanese, German, American and
Swedish. I use TheAxMethod along with a few passes with a tomo
nagura slurry and only a pass or two with clear water. I have shaved
with Japanese folder from this stone and the shave was barber like.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and
the corners and edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my
stones come with a money back guarantee minus the shipping.
