Very hard Nakayama asagi finishing stone. This stone is the classic Nakayama with
the straight line inclusions filled in solid with soft minerals, the asagi coloration that
is built of faint yellow and green with a blue wash showing here and there within a
cloudy or foggy patten. The kawa on two sides and the back with a rich screaming
Nakayama array of umbers, burnt umbers, sienna with a rich black that sparkles.

I have shaved off this stone and it was a gift. Comfortable, close and the razor
fitted up in just a few minutes of slurry to clear and palm stropping. A longish
chunky and narrow stone that is perfect for X strokes or long draws. There is an
area to one end with a few divots and a chipped edge that should be lapped out
now or carefully worked around and lapped out with time as the stone is used.

This stone and the other kamisori toishi on my site are from a world class private
collection of over 400 pieces assembled in Japan over the past years in the area
around Toyama by a collector of shaving implements. I was lucky enough to
purchase total collection. Many of the hones were actually used by barbers, some
dating to the 1920s or earlier, while others were simply prepared by the miners as
razor hones as evidenced by the size and fine quality of the stones grit

The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted.  All of my stones come with a money back
guarantee minus the return shipping.
