A medium soft tomae from the Nakayama mine the stone has an area of namazu seen
on the top at one corner, on the sides in several areas including one distinct liner
namazu blotch that is typical of Nakayama stone. Also one corner has an area of original
kawa skin that is made up of ocher, and umber colors along with a tiny patch of shiny
black minerals that are particular to the Nakayama stones.
The general body colors are the yellowish namazu and tones of greens and rouge that
are more visible when the stone is wet.
The stone is solid, there are some ancient gas void "su" miniature holes that do not
affect the sharpening qualities in any way and the namazu are slightly softer but are grit
rich. In all ways this stone is very fast cutting and it is a perfect stone for fine knives,
chisels and plane blades. A self slurrying stone means that a tomonagura is not
