Shobudani suita #289
This fairly scarce stone is a tool or knife size at 35mm thick and it is perfect
for all high carbon steels. The stone is not so terribly hard, it will self slurry
under a heavy blade and this helps to expose new sharper grit particles while
also carrying away the iron swarf from the blade. There is one small blemish
on the topside that you can see that does not cause any trouble with your
blade but you might choose to pick it out with a scratch awl, I would. This
stone is discounted for this fault.
I found that a slurry on the stone jumps the cutting speed up 3 notches
and a slurry will also encourage the hazy kasumi finish and contrast
between the two steel of bi-metal blades.
The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and the corners
and edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a
money back guarantee minus the shipping.
