Umegahata suita #17
This ultra fine softer suita stone from one of the shallower layers is perfect
for polishing and honing knives as the final stone. Full of renge and some
pure white blotches of namazu it will leave bi-metal blades with high contrasting
finishes to the hard and softer steels. I have tested this stone by directly
honing up a vintage Henckels razor on it after bevel setting on a 1,000 King
using TheAxMethod, the shave was very comfortable and close. This stone
would benefit by having the sides sealed and there are a couple of short cracks
that I have already filled in with cyanoacrylate so that they are now stable.
Also as you can see that one of the corners on the back is undercut and missing
and the modest price reflects these issues.
The sides of this stone have been sanded and the back has been flattened
so it sits square on a table top. It will be shipped with a tested tomonagura.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money
back guarantee minus the return shipping.
