#161 an Unknown mine Hon Suita

A hard suita with ancient gas voids from the very deep Hon Suita layer. This
faint yellow stone is rich in grit and eats up steel with little effort and will with
just clear water will leave a blade bright and shiny. I shave test all of my
stones after using the TheAxMethod and a diamond plate generated slurry
and found this stone to be super fine with a great feel. There is one inclusion
on the edge but it does not scratch the blade, and I can see along the sides
of the stone that there are layers of su (gas voids) that will eventually reach
the surface as the stone wears down. These layers as illustrated on the top
of the stone as those small dots seen in the photo. These su layers also
contain bits of red renge which are concentrations of radiolaria.
A unique stones with lots of life and although suita are not usually
considered kamisori or razor quality I found that this one is.

The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted.  All of my stones come with a tested and
appropriately sized tomonaguara slurry stone, and a money back guarantee
minus the return shipping.
