Yaginoshima iro tomae #148
A singular stone from a mine out near Kameoka to the east of Mt.Atago, it is
softer but full of grit and makes an excellent final stone for knives or tools.
With stainless or high carbon steel and just clear water the swarf appears
with just a few strokes to the stone. The base color of the stone is yellow
with areas of lavender and hints of green plus tones of light browns
surrounding patches of ancient gas voids that are filled with a softer white
mineral that is not toxic to any steel. Quite narrow and long this stone could
also be used as a bevel setting stone for razors.
The stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edges
beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money back
guarantee minus the return shipping. This stone will be shipped with a tested
tomonagura slurry stone.
