#147 Umegahata valley tomae

I do not honestly know from which mine this stone came from but I
am sure it was from the same Umegahata valley where the majority
of the finer grit stones were mined. This stone was set up size wise
for small tools, razors, scalpels or small knives. Some fellows like
these narrow stones for performing X type honing strokes which
help to overcome irregular edge profiles. Some razors have
smiling or frowning profiles and narrow stones can overcome
these irregularities.

This particular stone is dense and the grit is fine enough for
razors, there are no inclusions and from front to back it has
consistent abrasive material. The stone is actually a bit more
gray
then the photos suggest. This is not a kiita or asagi stone but
more of a gray tomae with a streak of deep red across the middle.

The toishi has been lapped perfectly flat, the sides dressed and
the corners and edges beveled unless otherwise noted.  All of my
stones come with a money back guarantee minus the shipping.
